Service to Sacramento Regional Transits Gold Line suffered a disruption Thursday afternoon after a Light Rail train struck a vehicle near Rancho Cordova.

At approximately 2:42 p.m. Thursday, units from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department (SacMetro) were dispatched to the Folsom Boulvard at Marketplace Drive, west of Nimbus Winery shopping center after reports of a collision between a vehicle and a Light Rail train, with injuries.

Upon arrival, first responders located a heavily damaged mini-van that had been struck by the train car before an additional collision with a roadside signal crossing signal.  There was reportedly one occupant in the vehicle that suffered injuries in the incident and required medical attention.

Additional units from the California Highway Patrol responded to assist at the scene along with Rancho Cordova Police Department and Sacramento Regional Transit crews.

The occupant of the vehicle was reportedly crossing the roadway when the collision occurred. According to information from SacMetro, the victim was transported to a nearby hospital and reported to be in stable condition.  No injuries were reported to others.

Service to light rail in the area is now longer affected as of Thursday afternoon.
