A water rescue has turned into a recovery search for a teen who went missing in the waters of the American River in Rancho Cordova on Tuesday.
The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District originally responded to the water rescue call at 2:44 p.m.after reports that two people were in distress in the waters near the El Manto access point in Rancho Cordova.
According to one 30-year-old man involved was pulled from the water and airlifted to a hospital in critical condition. The condition of the rescued man remains unknown at this time.
The search for the missing teen continues in the area. Shortly after 4 p.m.responding agencies transitioned the search into that of a recovery effort.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department has been on the scene as well as the Sacramento County Sheriffs Department and park rangers with Sacramento County.
As of 6:55 p.m. the dive team was working in the area of the El Manto access to assist with the recovery effort.
