Prep football entered its fifth week of competition Friday night in conference competition for all local teams, with the exception of the Folsom Bulldogs who ended up with the night off after a forfeit earlier in the week by their opponent Davis, leaving Folsom without a homecoming game to play but a victory forfeit when it comes to their season rankings in the CIF Sac Joaquin section season.

After falling to West Park in their league opener a week ago, Cordova picked up its first league win of the season Friday night. Hosting Kennedy for homecoming before a packed Lancer stadium that came out to celebrate homecoming. Cordova ended the night with a 22-8 victory to go 4-1 in the season overall and are now 1-1 in conference play.

Vista del Lago faced off with Christian Brothers Friday night. Christian Brothers controlled much of the match up, coming out of the first have with a 36-21 advantage. Vista came out in the second half to fight back but the Eagles couldn’t fly as strong as the Falcons on this particular night what ended with the Falcons on top 36-28.

Nearby Oak Ridge and Granite Bay High School’s went up against one another Friday. Oak Ridge won the match up 30-17.

In the week to come, the Folsom Bulldogs will return to action after their impromptu break as they play in El Dorado Hills against local rival Oak Ridge on Friday night. Vista del Lago will be on the road facing Inderkum, Cordova will be at home for the second week in a row as they host McClatchy. Granite Bay will head just up the road to Loomis as they play Del Oro.
