National Fire Prevention Week is upon us and the Folsom Fire Department is celebrating it with the community in what has become a local tradition. This Saturday, the department will be hosting its annual open house and pancake breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m., this Saturday, October 14 at Station 35, 535 Glenn Drive, according to a press release from the City of Folsom.
Residents are invited to attend and meet firefighters, tour the station, explore fire equipment and vehicles, and learn important safety tips. The event will have plenty of interactive activities for youngsters and offer the opportunity to climb aboard a classic fire truck, put out a fire themselves, meet Blaze the fire department therapy dog and more.
The open house is open to the public and is free from 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 12. To enjoy breakfast at the event its $7 per person to be paid bycash or Venmo on site. Those 2 years and under get to eat free. The event is sponsored by the Folsom Firefighter’s Association. Proceeds and donations will support public fire prevention education programs.
Parking will be available for the pancake breakfast and open house across the street in the Walmart shopping center parking lot and the department will have crossing guards at the crosswalk to assist guests.
