Brodie Stewart, Cash Prophets,Blue Line, J.B Barton take stage for 15th annual turkey drive fundraiser
Friends of Folsom is kicking off its 15th Annual Turkey Drive in style this Saturday, Oct. 11, with a lively Country Music Hoedown at the Orangevale Grange from 6 to 10 p.m. Known for their impactful charitable work, Friends of Folsom are aiming high this year with a goal to collect 15,000 turkeys for the Sacramento Food Bank—and they’re inviting the community to help make it happen!
This year’s event features live music from three talented country acts: the Brodie Stewart Band, plus the Cash Prophets, J.B. Barton and Blue Line. But that’s just the start. Guests can enjoy a variety of activities like line dancing, a mechanical bull, raffle prizes, auctions and more. Food and beverage vendors will be on hand, making it a night packed with fun, entertainment, and opportunities to give back.
In a shift from tradition, the annual turkey drive fundraiser—usually held in November—has been moved up to October, giving the organization extra time to reach their ambitious donation target. The event will raise funds and gather resources to support local families in need, especially during the holiday season.
Over the past 14 years, Friends of Folsom has provided more than 85,000 turkeys to families in need through their partnership with the Sacramento County Food Bank. In the last five years alone, they’ve successfully garnered 10,000 turkeys annually. But this year, they’re aiming for more, hoping to set a new record of 15,000 to help those in need over the holidays that may otherwise go without a nice holiday meal.
“Normally the Friends at Folsom conducts a turkey drive fundraiser in November, but this year they are doing a special fundraiser a little bit earlier,” explained Friends of Folsom President Jeff Garcia. “This event will take the place of our normal turkey drive and give us more time through the end of October and the beginning of November to achieve our goal of 15,000 turkeys. We’re hoping to see everyone come out and have a great time for our great cause.”
Founded by a small group of friends, families, and businesses, Friends of Folsom has grown into a well-known philanthropic force in the community. They’ve not only supported the annual Turkey Drive but have also contributed to numerous other causes, such as the Adopt-a-Family Christmas Drive, Marine Corps Toys for Tots, and local initiatives like Folsom Stars and Folsom Hope.
Taking place at the Orangevale Grange, located at 5807 Walnut Ave., the event runs from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are available online at www.friendsoffolsom.org. Tickets are $33.85 each including fees, couples tickets are $55.20. All proceeds will go toward supporting the Turkey Drive. I
