Prep football entered its fourth week of competition across the region, but it marked the first week of conference play for in the respective leagues of the CIF San Joaquin Section Friday night.
Locally, the Folsom Bulldogs hosted Rocklin at home Friday where they walked away from the powerhouse game with a 54-14 win over the Thunder in the Sierra Foothill League. Just up the hill, it was homecoming week at Vista del Lago High School. For the Eagles, a close match up ended with a much needed win on the early season as they edged Rio Americano 49-44 in their Capital Valley Conference opener.
In Rancho Cordova, Cordova had its undefeated status on the season come to a close on the road in Roseville as West Park kept them off the scoreboard and handed them a loss in their first league match up in the newly formed Metropolitan League. Locally and a bit to the north, the Granite Bay Grizzlies took their league opener by means of a 30-17 victory over Jesuit.
For Oak Ridge, league play started one day earlier. The Trojans played on Thursday this week, defeating Del Oro 28 to 7. Here is a quick round up of regional scores for this week:
