Folsom’s Mayweather Boxing under new ownership
Mayweather Boxing + Fitness – a group fitness experience that combines immersive boxing and fitness training with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather’s champion techniques, has announced their Folsom location is now under new leadership.
Eric Landheer, a Northern California native and U.S. Army veteran with an extensive corporate management background, is the new owner of the Folsom Mayweather Boxing + Fitness studio, according to a press release from the company on Wednesday. Landheer spent 14 years working overseas, boasting a range of executive positions in traditional and digital finance, integrated resorts, and stock exchanges, and moved back to the U.S. three years ago.
Landheer has always had an interest in health and wellness, consistently maintaining maximum physical training scores when he served and later earning a yoga instructor certification. During his time overseas, he and his son explored different types of fitness regimens, and developed a passion for boxing that continued when he returned to the U.S. He initially discovered Mayweather Boxing + Fitness as a customer, purchasing a membership for him and his son to experience the brand’s unique workouts, and developed a strong interest in the model.
At the same time, Landheer was pursuing his interest in becoming a small business owner and exploring franchising opportunities. After meeting Floyd Mayweather and the management team in person, Landheer realized that the Mayweather Boxing + Fitness franchise was a unique opportunity to help people achieve their fitness goals while building a business and decided to purchase the franchise rights to develop a new location in Reno. When Landheer discovered the previous owner was looking to sell the beloved Folsom location where he and his son were members, he decided to first buy the existing location to ensure the studio’s future success with plans to develop the new Reno location in 2025.
“I am proud to be operating a business that I see plays a positive role in shaping the local community,” said Landheer. “After returning to the U.S., I knew I wanted to open my own business. My son and I share a passion for boxing and fitness and it’s extremely fulfilling to further share that interest through this new business venture. Seeing how much the studio has transformed lives, I was unwilling to let it close, and bought it to ensure its success and continue its legacy.”
Landheer chose Mayweather Boxing + Fitness for its unique and fun fitness atmosphere and enjoyable customer experience. Offering boxing and non-boxing group fitness classes and personal training, Mayweather Boxing + Fitness is the most time-tested full-body workout experience on the market today. Utilizing methods developed throughout Floyd Mayweather’s 21-year undefeated boxing career, each studio offers a balance of class options formulated to get results with a challenging but fun workout great for all skill levels. Led by outstanding, experienced instructors, each training station is unique, involving a variety of boxing bags, treadmills, rowers, weights, and other equipment. Members participate in various high-energy and endurance-building classes, each lasting anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes. In addition, state-of-the-art smart screen technology is used to project Floyd’s image throughout the class, so members can learn from and train alongside the undefeated boxer himself.
Outside of his time working and living abroad, Landheer has spent most of his life in Northern California, and now has a home in the Folsom community. He is working hard to turn Mayweather Boxing + Fitness in Folsom into a model small business and community pillar, participating in community events and giveback initiatives such as the recent ‘Love Your Mom 5K’ at Palladio, Folsom Juneteenth Festival, ‘Destination Recreation’ youth summer camp, and the Folsom ‘Summer of Music’ Concert Series.
“We’re excited for Eric to take over our Folsom location,” said Dawn Weiss, Chief Marketing Officer of Mayweather Fitness Holdings. “It’s a testament to the positive impact Mayweather Boxing + Fitness has on its members, that he would purchase the location so that he can share the workout that’s become so important to him and the Folsom studio’s existing members. With his passion for health and wellness and for our brand, he will be instrumental in helping members of the Folsom community through their own fitness journeys.”
Located at 2750 E Bidwell St. Unit 150, Mayweather Boxing + Fitness of Folsom will be hosting a member appreciation event at the Russell House in Russell Ranch, Folsom, CA on Friday, August 2 from 4:30 – 7:30 pm.
