An elementary school in Folsom sheltered in place and residents of a nearby neighborhood were evacuated for a short time Wednesday morning due to a gas leak that was broken during construction.
At 11:07 a.m. multiple units from the Folsom Fire Department and the Sacramento Metropolitan Department responded to the scene where a two-inch gas line was severed, prompting evacuations along Kerslake Circle and Walden Drive.
Students and staff at nearby Gold Ridge Elementary were told to shelter in place as firefighters arrived on the scene.
There was no active fire at the scene upon Ari Al and firefighters remained on the scene for just under an hour while Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) responded to stop the leak and move forward with needed repairs.
The evacuation and shelter-in-place were lifted around 11:15 a.m. and some interruption to gas service to the area was expected as repairs weee being made for not early afternoon.
