Folsom firefighters  swiftly contained a grass fire that broke out early Friday morning near a residential area in the city. F

The Folsom Fire Department initially responded to the 911 call reporting the blaze at approximately 6:35 a.m. Friday in the vicinity of 831 Eagle Ridge Circle, situated between Eagle Ridge Circle and Hawk Court in close proximity to several homes.

Fire crews were able to quickly stop forward progress of the fire and mitigate any further danger to structures and remained on scene for nearly two hours to ensure all hot spots were fully extinguished.

There was no damage to residential homes and no injuries were reported. Fire officials are currently investigating the cause of the fire.

The prompt response and effective containment efforts by firefighters prevented the spread of the fire, which occurred in a grassy area along the ridge line containing dry fuels, conditions that have kept firefighters busy across the the region over the last several days as temperatures continue to remain high.
