The Fourth of July is set to get off to a blazing start with the 13th Annual Folsom Firecracker Run, returning to Folsom this Thursday, July 4th. The local community event promises a morning filled with fun, fitness, and a patriotic spirit, making it the perfect kickoff for your Independence Day celebrations.
Hosted at 145 Parkshore Drive in Folsom, participants of all ages and abilities are invited to lace up their running shoes and join in the excitement. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just getting started, there’s a race for everyone: choose from the 2 Mile, 5K, or 10K courses, each winding through the scenic trails along the picturesque American River.
One of the standout features of this event is its commitment to giving back. This year, proceeds will benefit the burn prevention programs at Shriners Children’s Northern California, supporting their mission to provide top-tier care for children with special healthcare needs.
Participants can look forward to more than just a run. Registration includes a soft-style race t-shirt, chip timing for accurate results, and a sparkling red-white-and-blue finisher’s medal – a perfect memento of your accomplishment. For the younger runners, there’s a brand-new Kids Fun Run at 9:00am, designed for ages 10 and under, ensuring everyone in the family can join in the fun.
Special divisions add an extra layer of excitement, including categories for Adaptive Athletes, US Military, First Responders, and more. Prizes await top finishers in each division, ensuring recognition for their exceptional efforts.
Race day kicks off bright and early with registration opening at 6:30 AM. The 10K starts at 7:45 AM, followed closely by the 5K at 7:50 AM, and the 2 Mile at 8:00 AM.
Arrive an hour before your race to ensure ample time for warm-ups, bib pick-up, and to secure a parking spot in the surrounding corporate parks (parking is free!).
Whether you’re aiming for a podium finish or simply out to enjoy a scenic jog, the Folsom Firecracker Run promises an unforgettable start to your Fourth of July. For more information and to register, visit the race website here https://runsignup.com/Race/CA/Folsom/FolsomFirecrackerRun.
