It was the seventh week of action under the Friday nights and the third week of competition for the area’ prep football squads competing the in CIF Sac-Joaquin Section with a number of local rivalries on tap locally and across the region.

Perhaps the most anticipated match up of the night was that of the Folsom Bulldogs hitting the road just up the hill where they faced longtime league rival Oak Ridge.  For the Bulldogs, the night wasn’t their strongest nightly offensively as they struggled to pull away, leading at the break 14-7. Once they returned, they picked up their offensive game, racking up a trio of trips to the line the second half.

The night ended with the Bulldogs climbing to 3-0 in conference play of the Sierra Foothill League (SFL) season with a 35-7 victory over the Trojans. Even in a game that wasn’t what they call ideal, Folsom quarterback Ryder Lyons still managed to play a key role in the success of the game, completing 22 passes that racked up to 273 yards overall.  With the loss, Oak Ridge now sits 2-1 in league play, 2-4 overall on the season.

Next Friday night will mark another powerhouse matchup for Folsom as they host Del Oro at Prairie City Stadium. The Del Oro Eagles come into the game following a loss to the Granite Bay Grizzlies Friday night 24-14.

Vista del Lago was also on the road Friday where they played Inderkum. The night ended with a tough loss for the Eagles, falling 64-21. Vista will host Woodcreek next Friday night in Folsom.

After the first loss of their season last week, the Cordova Lancers returned to their winning ways Friday night. Cordova hosted Metropolitan League rival McClatchy at Lancer stadium and took command of the ball early.  At the half, Cordova already owned the game at 13-0.  McClatchy got on the board for the first time in the third quarter, which would be their last trip to the line. Cordova would power on to a 27-7 win, putting them 5-1 overall in the season and 2-1 in league play. Next Friday, the Lancers hit the road against Antelope.
