Teamwork makes the dreamwork, as they say and that was the motto Tuesday as the Folsom Fire Department joined forces with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District  for a multi-company drill at Fire Station 36, focusing on enhancing emergency response coordination between the two agencies.

The joint training exercise involved eight companies and three chief officers, who collaborated on flowing large amounts of water using relay pumping between Type 1 engines. This drill was designed to improve the efficiency of joint operations, as both departments frequently respond together to emergencies across the region.

In addition to relay pumping, firefighters participated in training on hose management and master stream devices. Although the two departments share communication channels and standard operating guidelines, differences in equipment can present challenges during joint operations. This drill provided a valuable opportunity for firefighters to familiarize themselves with each other’s tools and techniques.

“It is a privilege to serve our community and neighboring communities side by side with Sacramento Metro Fire District,” the Folsom Fire Department said as they shared details and photos from the day on their social media platforms. “Teamwork makes the dream work.”

The collaboration reflects the ongoing commitment of both departments to ensuring the safety and well-being of the communities they serve.
