ORANGEVALE – A fast burning structure fire required the response of both Folsom and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department firefighters Friday afternoon in Orangevale.

Just after 3:30 p.m. Friday, multiple engines from both departments were dispatched to the incident on the 6200 block of Dark Star Way in Orangevale after several calls came into the 911 dispatch center from neighbors reporting the highly visible fire.

Sac Metro firefighters were the first on the scene and faced a hike in which the garage was already fully engulfed in flames with a vehicle inside. The flames had already broke into the roof of the home by the time firefighters rolled on scene, threatening area vegetation in the well populated neighborhood.

Firefighters quickly checked the home to insure it was fully evacuated and initiated an attack on the fire while additional Metro units arrived and two engines from Folsom arrived to assist the fire fight.

Due the fast and heavy response, firefighters were able to contain the structural fire damage to the garage portion of the home. However, smoke traveled into other areas of the home.

There were no reported injuries in the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time, according to Metro Fire.
