Residents in areas of El Dorado County have been given evacuation orders due to a growing wildfire Tuesday afternoon.
The Moccasin Fire near the community of Pleasant Valley and the southern border of Placerville has prompted evacuations for nearby residents, according to the El Dorado County Fire Protection District.
CAL FIRE reported Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. that the fire has expanded to 15 acres with a moderate rate of spread.
Evacuation orders are already in effect for the following areas with additional evacuations expected:
Oak Hill Road
Moccasin Trail
Nashville Trail
Metate Trail
Calamity Lane
Rocky Ridge Road
Los Cerros Drive
Pepperland Road
Meander Lane
Evacuation warnings are also issued for all roads north of Pleasant Valley Road.
The fire is burning on the south end of Oak Hill Road off the Moccasin Trail, south of Placerville. Authorities initially noted one home was burned by the fire.
This is an active incident as of 3:20 pm with further updates forthcoming.
