The Folsom Athletic Association (FAA) has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting local students by awarding a total of $22,000 in scholarships to deserving high school seniors this year. Among the recipients are standout individuals from various high schools in the area, each recognized for their exceptional achievements and contributions.
This year, the FAA introduced a new scholarship, the Ken Grossfeld Memorial Scholarship, aimed at honoring the legacy of Ken Grossfeld. Grossfeld, a beloved figure in the Folsom community, was known for his dedication to youth development through sports, music, art, and community service. His passion for little league baseball and his desire to make a positive impact on Folsom’s youth inspired the creation of this scholarship before his passing in 2011.
Winning the inaugural $1,500 Ken Grossfeld Memorial Scholarship from Folsom High School is Collin Elmore, who will be attending Winona State University. Similarly, Camden King from Vista del Lago High School is awarded the scholarship, with his college decision pending.
In addition to the Ken Grossfeld Memorial Scholarship, several other scholarships were awarded to outstanding students across the Folsom area. Chuck Harrison PACE Scholarship, valued at $1,500, was awarded to Jeffery Deacon from Folsom High School, who will be attending Cal Poly SLO, and Russell Stevens from Vista del Lago High School, who will be attending UC Boulder.
Among the recipients of the Lois B. Young Scholarship, valued at $1,000, are Devan Marcey and Julia Lynn Guglielmo from Folsom High School, Mischa Mal from UCLA, Alexander Warren Reed from Folsom Lake High School, and Anna Faith Olson and Max Vota from Vista del Lago High School, with college decisions pending.
The Ernie Sheldon Memorial Scholarship, also valued at $1,000, was awarded to Natalie Elliott-Cisneros from Folsom High School, Taylor Wilczewski from Vista del Lago High School, and Joshua Hooey from Folsom High School, with Phong Nguyen’s college decision pending.
The Ernie Sheldon Spirit Award, presented in the form of a gift card, was bestowed upon Ronan Gallagher from Folsom High School and Hannah Fernandez from Vista del Lago High School.
The Summer Kempton Memorial Scholarship, valued at $1,500, is awarded to Maya Moss from Folsom High School and Kelsey Fisher from Vista del Lago High School, with both students’ college decisions pending.Lastly, the Race Salazar Memorial Scholarship, valued at $1,000, is awarded to Holly Wagner from Folsom High School and Brynn Seale from Vista del Lago High School, with Seale’s college decision pending.
Through these scholarships, the Folsom Athletic Association continues to invest in the future of its community, recognizing and supporting the academic and extracurricular achievements of its youth.
